K-POP ALEXANDERPLATZ, Berlin

This film is part of GUrL(Gendered Urban Landscapes), an on-going investigation that began as a 6-month artist residency at ZK/U.

The piece follows a group of teenagers who met regularly to dance at the foot of the TV Tower in Alexanderplatz, Berlin.

I was moved to discover a self-organised group of mostly teenage girls and young people of marginalised gender identities taking over a public space in this way.

Working with them over the course of six months, I realised there was more to the story. The text overlaid in these stills show quotes from the dancers, recorded through interviews.

GUrL is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
