FREE PALESTINE, FREE K-POP Berlin
This piece is part of GUrL(Gendered Urban Landscapes) an on-going investigation that began as a 6-month artist residency at ZK/U.
This performance through the neighbourhood of Moabit, followed a day-long workshop at ZK/U with teenage girls from the local youth club ‘Mädchen-Kultur-Treff Dünja’.
We used props, sounds and actions to explore how we can we collectively take up space in our neighbourhood. The props and their content were made by the girls, who chose to represent Palestine and K-pop in the work.
The performance included music and spoken word, and was joined by members of the public at points including a Palestinian immigrant from the neighbourhood who was very
moved by our actions.
GUrL is supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
