OTTO PARK KARAOKE,  Berlin

This piece is part of GUrL(Gendered Urban Landscapes), an on-going investigation that began as a 6-month artist residency at ZK/U.

Stills taken from a short film piece made with teenage girls from the local youth club ‘Mädchen-Kultur-Treff Dünja’.

This film was directed and shot by the girls following a workshop into film-making that took place in the local public space within Otto Park.

Part of the film shows an interview between the girls, discussing spaces in their neighbourhood.

Other parts document how we collectively claimed space in the park to just “be”. This spontaneously turned into a Karaoke session, as the girls developed the confidence to express themselves in public space.
